The Sagamore Resort ... Is it worth it?

Updated: Mar 22, 2023

The Sagamore Resort, located on Bolton's Island on Lake George, New York, is a luxury resort with first-class service, numerous lake and land activities as well as fun restaurants all with phenomenal lake views. Lake George is situated in the Adirondacks and is famous for being one of the cleanest lakes in the world. Lake George is thirty-two miles long with beaches and gorgeous scenic views and is the perfect place to kayak, boat, paddle board, swim and more!

Checking In at The Sagamore

Before arriving at The Sagamore Resort at Lake George, you drive up to a gate with a security guard. The security guard checks your name to verify your stay and lifts the gate. Please note, if you are not a guest at The Sagamore there is a parking fee. On your drive up to the main hotel you are in awe of the greenery and beautiful flowers hanging on each light post. In front of the hotel there is a beautiful croquet lawn.

Once you have checked in explore the lobby, lobby gift shop, restaurants and take in the picturesque view from the lobby veranda. As you step off of the veranda and onto the patio perched above the lake and the pool, you will have a stunning view of a nature oasis.

Best Things To Do At The Sagamore

After exploring The Sagamore's massive property you are ready to relax, unwind and enjoy the family-orientated activities. The Sagamore offers a large list of things to do. I enjoy both paddle boarding and kayaking in the morning prior to the lake becoming busy and having to navigating the wakes from the boats. Another fun morning activity is to take a tour of Lake George on The Morgan. The Morgan is a nineteenth century replica, seventy-two foot vessel that takes guests on a memorable cruise of Lake George. Of course if you want to sleep in, you can always catch The Morgan for an afternoon cruise! After your morning on the water, explore the seventy acres of The Sagamore to further familiarize yourself with the property as well as stroll into town. The walk around the property is peaceful and relaxing as you become one with nature hearing the birds chirp and see the butterflies.

In the afternoons during the summer, The Sagamore has a daily ice cream bar with chocolate and vanilla ice cream and sprinkles. This mid-afternoon snack is a fun pick-me-up treat! During the afternoon the lake is the warmest and the perfect time to jump in the lake or relax in an inner tube. The Sagamore has a fun lake swimming area with a life guard. If you are looking for land activities, play a round of tennis, hit the croquet lawn or play golf! During the sunset hour sit by the pool to watch the colorful sky illuminate around the lake.

In the evening enjoy the campfire with live music. The Sagamore has a fun old fashioned car that was redesigned to serve as a s'mores bar complete with chocolate, graham crackers, marshmallows and roasting sticks. The car has a bright light up sign that spells S-M-O-R-E-S. This is the ideal way to end the day. After the bonfire, head back to your room to enjoy a nice bottle of wine from your deck/porch. The rooms are stocked with bottle openers and wine glasses.

SUITES AT LAKE GEORGE

During our stay at The Sagamore Resort, we stayed in the lodge suites with queen beds. I highly recommend staying in the suites opposed to the rooms as the suites are much brighter and more spacious. The suites' kitchen have stove burners, a microwave, dishes and plates. The kitchen has fun bar seating and "woodsy" decor.

In the living room, there is a breakfast nook which is a great spot to enjoy meals or set up your laptop to send a few emails. Just past the breakfast table, there is a large green "L" shaped couch which is the perfect spot to lay and watch tv by the fireplace at the end of a day at the lake! Past the living room is the deck. The deck has two rocking chairs which is a great spot to enjoy your morning coffee and take in the scenery.

Queen Suite Bedroom

The queen suite bedroom has fun woods themed accent pieces as well as an outstanding lake view. There is nothing better than waking up to the still, peaceful water view in the morning! The suite is private and you can not hear other families from your room.

View From Suite

The above photo is the view from the suite. It is fun to see families readying their boats with multiple coolers, bags overflowing with towels and water toys to enjoy the day on Lake George! You will also see a handful of kayakers and paddle boarders on the lake.

Swimming in Lake George

Swimming in Lake George is so much fun! When you jump in the water don't think about it being cold!

Where to Get Drinks At The Sagamore

The Sagamore Resort has multiple bars on property. I recommend having afternoon drinks at The LakeHouse. The LakeHouse, pictured above, serves lunch as well as strong and delicious drinks and all with a spectacular view of the Lake.

If you are looking for a sunset drink, have a glass of wine or cocktail on the veranda. This location provides a great view to watch the sunset over the lake.

If you are looking for an evening drink, head to Mr. Brown's Pub for a night cap. Mr. Brown's Pub is designed and decorated to bring the Adirondack woods inside!

Dining At The Sagamore

The Sagamore Resort has a handful of outstanding restaurants from dressy to casual. Most dining venues are casual as the atmosphere while elegant is laid back. The restaurants have great food and views of the lake. The Sagamore Resort has two restaurants that are situated lakeside. It is fun to watch the activities on the water as you enjoy your meal!

I highly recommend staying at The Sagamore Resort in a suite. I hands down think the suite is a great investment for your trip to unwind and relax. I enjoyed all of the lake activities and nightly campfires as well as strolling around the property and taking in the views of nature. I am looking forward to our next Lake George trip and stay at The Sagamore Resort!

Happy Travels!

XOXO,

Katy
