Pack your bags and head to Bar Harbor, Maine. Bar Harbor is filled with family and couples fun-filled activities, great restaurants, spectacular waterviews, phenomenal hiking, shopping, ice cream parlors, walking paths and more. While visiting this fun waterfront town make sure to try some of the many blueberry products (i.e. blueberry chocolate, margaritas, honey, tea). Fun fact: Maine produces 99% of the United States blueberries.
Bar Harbor, Maine is a beautiful coastal town. I highly recommend visiting during the late spring to the early fall months to enjoy the warmer weather and take in the stunning nature sites.
BEST RESTAURANTS IN BAR HARBOR, MAINE:
Terrace Grille at The Bar Harbor Inn - is a fun and upbeat outdoor waterfront restaurant. When you see the bright yellow umbrellas, you know you have arrived. The Terrace Grille is a casual restaurant serving delicious drinks and food. I recommend dining for lunch and ordering the hummus as a starter for the table.
Galyn's - has been serving Bar Harbor since 1986. Legend has it the building that currently occupies Galyn's formerly housed a speakeasy in the basement during the prohibition era. Galyn's has outstanding food and is vegan and vegetarian friendly. I recommend dining at Galyn's for dinner and trying the blueberry margarita and butternut squash cakes.
BEST THINGS TO DO IN BAR HARBOR, MAINE:
Acadia National Park - Hike beautiful waterfront trails at Acadia National Park. During your hike you will see the ocean as well as the mountains and lakes. While in the beautiful nature you will be in awe of the sights surrounding you. The best time of the day to visit Acadia National Park to avoid the crowds is early in the morning.
Ice Cream - After a long day of walking around in the heat, there is nothing better than ice cream. Stop by Mount Desert Island Ice Cream Parlor for a yummy sweet treat. I love the pink peppermint stick ice cream.
Mini Golf - Located just a short drive from downtown Bar Harbor is Pirate's Cove Mini Golf. This fun course will add some light hearted fun and spirit to your trip. Pirate's Cove has two mini golf courses on the property, so if you are looking to play another round, you can try a new course with another set of obstacles on the holes.
Shopping - Explore downtown Bar Harbor's shops from the dog shop, Bark Harbor, to Seaside Art Gallery, the Old New England Country Store, fudge shops, cafes, jewelry stores and more!
